Digital Love (x)
For Miss Lonely Hearts.

Incredibly late Secret Santa finally done. I sent her a few messages asking her what were her favorite illustrated books and musical artists and she gave me a large list. I was delighted to find out we had similar tastes in both subjects—and when I saw that she liked Dr.Seuss and children’s books, I thought it would be rather nice to add a handmade one to her collection. I took several of the songs from her list and really cracked my head pulling the lyrics apart, looking at her survey, repeat repeat repeat. Digital Love was the song that stuck with me throughout though, and really enjoyed the whole experience. ;w;

I am so sorry it’s really late and even past anything remotely Christmas-y. So, very belated Merry Christmas and especially a Happy New Year’s!

I missed this the first time around! So great! :)

I did get mine, and I must have forgotten to submit hobovampire’s to the blog!

great! Please submit it or send me the link so I can reblog it. :)

Who havent gotten one or given one?

that’s a list of people who haven’t received gifts (as far as I know, although messages are flooding in letting me know I missed a lot, haha!).  I have a separate list of people who haven’t given gifts and am following up with them privately.

Nope! I sent and received my gifts. If you need to see them, I’ll dig them up after GS.

awesome! a lot of people on this list are saying that. this is GREAT.  I was VERY busy during the holidays and reblogs don’t come up on the tags, so I had a feeling a lot of these were accounted for but I just didn’t have them in my spreadsheets.

thanks for letting me know, everyone!

Anonymous asked: Um, I'm assuming the holiday exchange is now dead even though a few of us never received anything? :(

Not done! I did finish updating all my spreadsheets this weekend and started contacting delinquent gift givers.  I’ll be posting the list of missing gifts tonight before I go to bed.

In hindsight I probably didn’t have time to run the exchange this year and I’m really sorry for delays.  While I won’t claim to be responsible for the people who signed up and didn’t follow through (not very nice!), I am responsible for not being more aggressive in my follow up.

Hopefully we will get this all resolved in the next few weeks.  I know I’ve been saying that a lot.  I really appreciate your patience with me!

Anonymous asked: So what's the status of the exchange? Are all gifts accounted for?

Working on it. Y’all, I’m so sorry I’ve been pretty bad at running things this year, doing the last minute catch up on gifts.  I promise, promise, PROMISE all of you I will sit down and look at what gifts aren’t accounted for, etc., this weekend and work it all out. We’ve had so many volunteer pinch hitters.  This WILL all work out, I promise.  Thank you for your patience.  It’s been almost a MONTH since Christmas, so many of you have been waiting for a really long time!

cherith:

My extremely overdue DAHC gift for bioticbootyshaker.  There was so much happening before and after Christmas that I was not able to get this finished up until today.  Many, many apologies to Liz for my tardiness with her gift.  I hope the finished product makes up for the the wait.

Where We’ve Never Been: A Sebastian/Fenris fanmix

Notes: I did my very level best to pick songs not only appropriate to Sebastian and/or Fenris, but to be really selective about the lyrics in regards to gender as well.  The more fanmixes I make the more I get really annoyed at the lack of gender choices - or to even sort of allude to same sex gender choices.  So, picking songs with male singers that didn’t reference a ‘she’ or ‘her’ was hard (though believe me when I say, I found it easier than the opposite).

Also I tried to stay away from songs that were overly or unnecessarily angsty.  Because this is not a story of angst and separation.  This is a tale of two men coming to terms with themselves and each other.  And their gradual, eventual journey to love.

Two weeks ago I received an extravagant bundle from my DA Secret Santa, the generous, the thoughtful, and the ever lovely autumnyte. And wow. My cruddy photo just doesn’t do this gift anywhere near justice (heh). For Autumnyte showered me with a veritable embarrassment of Thedan riches: a box the approximate size of my dinner table stuffed with parcels hand-selected by Garrett Hawke and his companions (accompanied of course by a personal note from each, explaining the reasoning behind his or her gift).
Inside the box was:
From Ser Carver, I received a mug with the Grey Warden griffon on it, perfect for making my beloved Brownies-in-a-Cup;
From Isabela, a personalized book of her favorite sayings – which also happened to be many of my favorites as well — and a few portraits of herself too, of course;
From Garrett and Anders, a joint gift of chocolates from a Hightown chocolatier named Gertrude Hawk (no relation), and pointedly not a copy of Anders’s manifesto. (I have enough copies, thank you!);
From Fenris, a jar of organic, fair trade honey, which he assures me was not collected from the hands of slaves, elven or otherwise;
From Sebastian, a letter indicating he’d made a donation to the Chantry in my name — but not to the mage-hate-y part, but the part that cares for widows and orphans;
From Aveline, a gorgeous pendant of the Kirkwall crest, so I always have a way to carry with me my memories of my home away from home;
From Merrill, a packet of beautiful cards with hand-pressed flowers on them straight from the Viscount’s garden, which Carver helped her collect (an anecdote that surely will make it into Shadows, when I get back to it);
From autumnyte herself, a beautiful card with a map of Thedas on the front, so I never get lost trying to find my way home.
And last but certainly not least, a parcel from Varric: perhaps the most touching gift any writer can give another – a blank, leather-bound journal, perfect for toting around in one’s pocket and pulling out at a moment’s notice, for whenever the fancy strikes. Inside reads the following inscription:

To [Flutiebear],There’s power in stories. That’s all history is: the best tales, The ones that last. Might as well be yours.

Oh great, now I’m crying again.

This has to be one of the most thoughtful and considerate gifts I’ve ever received. The care and effort autumnyte put into assembling all this is evident, and so very, very appreciated. I love it, every bit of it, down to the ribbons she used to tie the notes together.
So thank you, autumnyte. Thank you. A million times thank you. You are a treasure and an inspiration, and at the next meet-up, I’m buying your drinks for the entire weekend. Love you, doll.

autumnyte is the best best person.
